In the music of The Zawose Queens’, you will find a fiery spirituality and a deep connection to nature. This is a masterful blend of genres, and according to the Queens themselves, it is a dance-inspired fusion that mixes the organic and electronic from both old and new times.
They bring with them a strong grounding in their East African roots, with the electronic layers accompanied by a wealth of traditional instruments like the dreamy Illimba, the lively Ngoma drums, and the soaring Chizeze.
Pendo and Leah Zawose come from a family with a long history in their musical tradition, and their lyrics also speak of life in music, the connection to nature, and the grand experiences of life's revelations.
